The new film from the crazy Danish auter which he described as a psychological drama/sci-fi disaster film. The film deals with the relationship between two sisters and how it changes when a newly discovered planet is on a collision course with Earth.
The cast includes Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, John Hurt, Alexander Skarsgard, Stellan Skarsgard and Charlotte Rampling.
Say what you will about Trier, but he is a very good director and his films might be hard to watch, but they are nothing if not interesting and unique.
Melancholia, just like Antichrist, looks absolutely beautiful. Trier has broken free from his own Dogma and is now working with his DPs to create breathtaking visuals.

Looks like a definite must! Lars doing s-f is a brilliantly insane idea. Antichrist was quite possibly one of the funniest movies of the decade...
This is going to be weird.....
It does not look like a Sci Fi film. It looks like that planet collision(wtf) is just an excuse to unleash the innerweirdness of psychological mumbo jumbo that is characters in von Trier's movies...I might be wrong but that is what i got from the trailer...
