GT5 AI problems

For the past week the interents have been buzzing about how disappointing the AI of the new Gran Turismo is. I am always suspicious about those kind of things especially now that the major competitor of the GT franchise is Microsoft's Forza Motorsport. GT has been 6 years in the making and everyone expected something beyond perfect. I still have not bought it myself since my PS3 time is occupied with other games.
After reading countless reviews and still not convinced about the seriousness of the AI problems I stumbled upon this video that shows the artificial stupidity plain and simple. Enjoy:

Wow, that is shockingly bad. Imagine not being able to program preventing one sprite colliding into another. Game Programming 101 I imagine.

I dont think is that simple. However, I am pretty confident that GT5 developers are very competent. Their attention to detail was legendary and I am very surprised at things like that.

Bad AI but it can be worse (see prequels)

That's not an excuse after 6 years in the making though.
What's your take on the game so far?

Haven't found the time to purchase enough premium cars and unlock events yet. It's an impressive game but I feel that something is missing. Not sure what yet. Till I find out I'll probably get lost in New Vegas instead...
