"StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty" release date announced!

After 12 long years the time has finally come for the sequel to one of the best games ever, to be unleashed upon the world! Blizzard has announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will be released on stores worldwide on July 27 2010.

The release of StarCraft II will also mean the official opening of the new Battle.net which will offer many new features.

I am excited about the game but I have to say that I still think it was a wrong move by Blizzard to release the game in three parts. This basically means that in order to experience the whole story you will have to pay the same game 3 times.

I think that Blizzard is getting overly greedy - in the end, splitting a game into three parts will possibly have an adverse effect on sales, since a vast majority will simply try to obtain it through illegitimate avenues. Also, what is this "Wings of Liberty"? It sounds like a Bush-era tagline!

The greedy part, me think, comes from the unholy mammoth alliance between Blizzard and Activision with Activision acting as the publisher.
Multiplayer-wise all factions will be available from the first game. Each game though will contain a different campaign.

Hurray! No more "I forgot to log on for the raid cause I was playing SC" excuses.
