Reality television knocks video game door

Sci Fi channel has greenlighted the production of a reality television series that will revolve around video games to announce the best gamer on the US. The show is rumored to be called Gamequest and it will work with the usual, for reality shows, elimination process.

The show will include both video game challenges using popular titles as well as physical challenges that are inspired by video games. Sci Fi president said:
With two out of every three American households playing video games, it's clear that this mainstream phenomenon is a perfect arena for the channel's agenda of broadening the brand while celebrating imagination.
The contestants will compete for a prize package that includes $100,000 and trips to future World Cyber Games events. Who would have thought that video games, a hobby for few geeky people until a few years ago, will become a mainstream media show...
